Thresholds of Memory
Hajar Alblooshi · 2026
Thresholds of Memory is a contemporary porcelain wall installation exploring memory, identity, and the architectural heritage of the UAE.
Inspired by Emirati homes of the late 1970s and 1980s, the artwork brings together 15 handcrafted porcelain pieces that reinterpret traditional doorways, decorative ventilation blocks, and architectural details.
Delicate perforations, carved textures, subtle cobalt-blue paintings, and the interplay of light and shadow transform familiar fragments of home into a poetic reflection on belonging and cultural memory.
Each piece carries a trace of the past, connecting the intimacy of everyday life with contemporary artistic expression.
